The First Flowers of the Season

Sweet peas are some of the first flowers of the season

Because they can withstand the cold and temperatures as low as 0 degrees they are often some of the first things that I plant in the spring. Our tulips, daffodils and other bulbs go in the ground in the fall and sometimes I get blooms at the same time. It makes the the most special and scented of bouquets. The whimsy of the sweet pea lifts my spirits. Sometimes the fragrance can be quiet strong but I love the delicate smell as it enhances my tours of the gardens.

I even plant sweet peas in my aroma gardens. Which are expending in 2024 too! These are gardens often filled with herbs, but also other things that play on aromatics and give a lovely sensory experience. Sometimes it is the smallest things that can give us the most joy.
