Seed starting at the farm is an over the top affair

We started with just one set of shelves indoors in the livingroom during the pandemic.

We went from that to this

I now have 4 sets of shelves, an entire bench in the greenhouse and the floor and run out of space. In 2024 we will be adding a polytunnel to the farm to help extend the season in the spring and fall.

  • In 2020 we started 100 plants.

  • In 2021 we started 250 plants.

  • In 2022 we started 400 plants.

  • In 2023 we started more than 5,000 plants.

This year we will start more than 7,500 plants. Several hundred of these are perennials and the start of a peony field. We extended to roses for the 2024 season too, we bought more 20 roots of some David Austin varieties. Both the peonies and roses won’t be able to be really cut on for the first few years, but we are investing in the future of the farm.
